Buying a house that is nothing but trouble

I thought buying a home was a smart decision.

Unfortunately, I was extremely naive. I didn’t know anything about what to look for or watch out for. I trusted the real estate agent to provide honest and helpful advice. Although I paid for a home inspection, the inspector failed to find the most worrisome problems. He missed issues with a leaking duct system that cost me a fortune in heating and cooling costs. He didn’t notice a leaking pipe that caused extensive water damage. The floor under the tub rotted out and I was faced with mold growth. There were missing sections of the gutters that resulted in erosion of soil around the house and issues with the foundation. I had outlets that didn’t work, windows that wouldn’t open and appliances that were faulty. I had to run around with pots and pans to catch the water whenever it rained because the roof was such a mess. I quickly became overwhelmed. I didn’t have the budget, time or knowledge to handle all of the many repairs. Hoping to sell the house, I called the same real estate agent back again. She told me that the house would prove very difficult to sell. I was so angry with her that I didn’t want to pay her a commission on the sale. I looked around and found a cash home buyer that is local to Colorado Springs. The company has a well-proven reputation for successful deals. They made the process very easy and stress-free. I filled out a contact form. They supplied a cash offer. I accepted and we closed in a week. There was no need for repairs or inspections. I wasn’t responsible for an appraisal or renovations.
